Handcrafted infographics

I love handcrafted graphics. I am always amused by the raw texture and extra details handcrafted graphics could offer. They are truly art works, with extra text and statistics inside to tell a story. The Malofiej 20 awards, known as the Pulitzers of the infographics world, recognize the finest infographics published across the globe. The current … Continue reading

Impressed by The Scale of the Universe

The Scale of the Universe is an interactive infographic that allows you to scroll through data from smallest quantum foam, all the way to the estimated size of the entire universe as a whole.   from this website: http://scaleofuniverse.com     This interactive graphic is so amazing and I spent a good hour just scrolling through, … Continue reading

People are tired of bad infographics, so make good ones

Here is a bad graphic from the Boston Metro on Oct 10th, 2012. I really love Neil Freeman’s work “Subway systems at the same scale” in 2004. http://fakeisthenewreal.org/subway/ These graphics have no key and annotation. They are simply made … Continue reading

Infographic Can Do A Great Misrepresenting Job

Infographics are a quick and easy way of conveying information. Sadly, however, they’re equally useful in simplifying data to the point of misrepresentation. From the text WSJ Guide this week, we know that choosing a y-axis scale that yield a flat line would misrepresent the trend, truncation/a bar chart does not begin at a zero … Continue reading

I love Infographics – Margaret

Hi folks, So, the first two lectures covered the history of infographic. It’s interesting to think that cave paintings and Egyptian heiroglyphics were in a way an early form of infographics! I found a timeline showing the evolution of infographic.   Guardian has more examples for old-day infographics. Check it out and see how cool they are! … Continue reading
